By Dan Politi Slate – A driver turned a summer evening on one of California’s most popular boardwalks into a horrific scene as he drove his car car straight into a crowd, killing one person, and injuring 11. Witnesses claim the driver appeared to have full control over his car and was purposefully trying to hit people during the hit-and-run that went on for several blocks.

“The driver was out for blood,” one witness told a local CBS affiliate. The driver fled the scene but police are questioning a man who turned himself in after the incident. (Update: Police arrested Nathan Louis Campbell, 38, who walked into a police station two hours after the incident saying he was involved, reports the Associated Press. The motive remains unclear.)

Candle Cafe & Grill security footage of the incident, which clearly shows the driver pulling up, going back to his car and leaving, again going back to the car, then accelerating towards the crowd, before driving straight in to pedestrians on the Venice Beach Boardwalk.

Towards the end of the video 3:00, with the second angle, you will see the car appear from the top left hand corner at rapid speed before turning left into the crowd.

The impatient ones can go to 3:00, where it looks like he collected his first victim with the white pants and pink shirt ?

Seconds later the car is seen crashing into crowd.

CBS covered the story.
