Canada won the Fossil Award in Copenhagen but is that fair. Some say Canada has been a roadblock to negotiations in Copenhagen.

Canada used to lead the negotiations for improving the environment. Under Prime Minister Harper we are apparently trying to derail or slow down the negotiations at Copenhagen.

Let’s face it. Canada’s Prime Minister Harper is against anything that reduces the profits of the Alberta oil patch. They are his base of support.

We are dragging our feel. Poor Jim Prentice is left to twist with is political prevarications in the proverbial wind. \

On PEI, three of the four MPs have signed the Greenpeace petition on climate change. Who didn’t? Conservative MP Gail Shea didn’t sign and we suspect none of the Tory caucus.

One assumes Harper has polled and found Canadians don’t vote on the environment.

It’s a sad legacy for a great country that once led the world in environmental research and action.
