Liberals complain about Olympic Torch favouritism

In one week the Liberals have turned on the Opposition heat and sent the Conservatives underground. The latest complaint about favoritism in sending the Olympic Torch through mostly Tory ridings is the one, two, three punch.

We think the first two hits scored – lack of swine flu vaccine and the AG’s report on emergency preparedness. Auditor General finds Harper Conservatives neglected emergency response plan. The Liberals are demonstrating that the Harper government are poor stewards of the national trust. The messages seem to have resonated with many Canadians.

As for the Olympic Torch, that’s another story. I know some people care about the Olympics. The 12 multi-national sponsoring companies and failing world wide TV networks care. They need something to convince you to watch TV this winter.

The police care. How else are they going to practice crowd and riot control in one of the most peaceful countries in the world and in it’s most peaceful and stoned province of British Columbia.

A new book says there are 20,000 marijuana grow-ops in BC. The weed industry is now BC’s largest industrial sector. Wouldn’t all those testosterone pumped police with tazers like something to do after the Olympics are over?

How about a treat for the right-wing conservative bunch who don’t like the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. They may get their wish for a Fascist vacation in BC when police will be able to enter homes without cause or warrant and throw occupants in jail for saying the word “Olympics”. Vancouver Olympics more important than Charter

Here it is boys: Olympics  Olympics  Olympics

The Olympic Games is not sport when the winner is chosen by 1/100ths of a second improvement in speed over the other contestants. It’s a market demonstration project for precision digital watches.

The Olympic Games have nothing to do with sports and everything to do with commercialism and jingoistic nationalism. Are we all going to get fatter drinking Coke at MacDonald’s because the athletes do? How can GM Canada afford to sponsor the Olympic Games, didn’t they go bankrupt? Oh, that’s right we loaned them billions of dollars.

The Nazi’s set the tone back in the 1930’s. While everyone decries Hitler, government leaders the world over study how he merged sport and nationalism into a single package. Politicians want their piece of the pie. Spending billions on personal egos of politicians is far more important than trying to improve the lot of citizens. Canada looking more like German 1936 Olympics

As for the Torch Relay, let’s hope they practice more safety than the Canada Games 2009 committee. On PEI, an 11 year old boy was badly burned by hot paraffin from their torch. Canada Games torch run ends with severe burns

We can expect the media to be busy covering up any “accidents” and giving us a sanitized version of the Olympic Games like they did on PEI this year. Canada Games Guardian and CBC Compass unconcerned about Robbie Arsenault burn
