Good news for one PEI couple

Scooter blue

Turned down once by the DSP, they applied again and she got a scooter

A Charlottetown woman who suffers from MS and can not walk far anymore got the scooter she needs. It was funded by the PEI Disability Support Program.

She told her husband to thank me and he buttonholed me on Kent Street yesterday.

“You can’t give me a ticket today. Took the cab,” I joked as I went along in my wheelchair.

“Not today but I’ll get you yet,” he replied

“Look I want to thank you for helping me with the wife’s scooter. She got it just like you said.”

Actually, I didn’t do much. Last spring he was complaining about arthritis and his wife’s disability. She wasn’t getting out.

I think I told him he was to cheap to get her a scooter or some joke.

Turned out she needed one but had been turned down by the DSP.

You know me, I encouraged him to try again. Don’t give up and if they hassle you tell them I’ll go the to office myself.

Something worked because he was all smiles yesterday, laughing and tormenting me as always.

“Now I’m off the hook,” he said squinting at me.

“I found you and said thanks. The missus has been bugging me everyday “Did you thank him? Did you find him yet?” as he went off laughing to himself.

Not everyday is a great day like yesterday but they happen.
