As smallish netbooks take the sales momentum laptops dip to $300 range and will likely go lower after Christmas

Tiger Direct is offering 10 netbooks and notebooks clustered around $300. They say “48 hours only.”

This is the beginning of the clearance of all laptops as Intel rolls out new lower power and higher speed i7 Mobile Processor for the notebook market.

Most of the computers at this price range will surf the Internet, prepare documents, manage photos and all the other things personal users want.

The only company selling laptops above $1,000 is Apple who sell the MacBook for $1,149 and the MacBook Air for an astounding $2,099. Apple dominates this space of overpriced computers but 90% of all computers sell for under $1,000 according to industry surveys.

Apple’s customers get higher satisfaction by paying higher prices, a known consumer phenomena in a small segment of the market.

The rest of us like to save money at Wal-Mart.
