Flu Season has started

Flu Watch 480

Nine days on the road with the stomach flu is enough evidence

Stephen Pate, NJN Network, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, September 2, 2009 with story from Public Health Canada

According to Public Health Canada the flu season is about to begin. According to this flu racked person, it has already begun.

I am glad to report that I survived a two week bout with intestinal influenza that that did not hit the statistical records. I didn’t die or get committed to a hospital which is what the government watches.

Other than that, it was a bad two weeks starting just before leaving for a road trip to Toronto.

Undaunted I left after two days of this infection. Although no one in Toronto reported feeling like I did, anecdotal evidence in Montreal says they have it too.

I am so happy the thing has morphed into a head cold. Other than the sweets, stuffy head and overall fatigue I feel cured.

The easiest place to find chicken soup between PEI and Toronto is Tim Horton’s who serve a great bowl of the medicinal stuff at lunch. All the trendy restaurants in Toronto serve a flu deadly version of spicy lentil soup which is totally wrong for this infection.

Chicken soup has been a favorite cure of Yiddish grandmothers for centuries. The ever skeptical Consumer’s Reports tested the stuff and found it increased the body’s production of disease fighting white blood cells. I am a believer especially when there is nothing else safe to eat.

Eat healthy, get lots of rest and stay well because this flu season could be a doozie.

Here are the statistics on the Swine Flu in Canada which is supposedly taking a summer vacation.
