Dave Carroll sings United Breaks Guitar in Washington hearings

Sons of Maxwell United

Dave Carroll sang United Broke My Guitar gave testimony in Washington September 22, 2009 before the Air Passenger Rights Stakeholder Hearing

Dave Carroll (Facebook) was one of several user witnesses who testified on behalf of the stranded, luggage lost and damaged and otherwise abused airline passengers of America.

One of the vexing problems identified was long tarmac delays. Passengers once boarded have been held on their airplanes for up to 8 hours in cramped and uncomfortable seats. The airlines argue to let people off the planes would endanger safety.

Dave Carroll and Sons of Maxwell sang the famous United Brakes Guitar song. Carroll also gave testimony.

The hearings are not sponsored by the US Congress or Senate. Airplane passenger rights organizations have been given permission to hold the meetings in official hearing rooms which gets the event more press coverage.

You have to hand it to Dave. He’s getting all the mileage out of this that he can.

US Media didn’t cover Carroll’s appearance. CTV carried the story on CTV Newsnet. CBC covered the story of the pending hearing. Halifax singer takes guitar-smashing tale to Washington
