Story from Telegraph.co.uk

There is a media fascination with week long dance contests, pole sitting, guys who wheelchair across the street, province, state or world. Just to set the record straight: the disabled don’t care.

We care about surviving and thriving in a hostile world. We care about getting a job, having access to restaurants and bathrooms and have a home that works.

We don’t want to go rock climbing or skiing. What is that penchant of non-disabled to put us in danger on skis so maybe we break some other bones and things are worse? Get your own life.

Here’s a crazy story about a trail along a rock face. Looks dangerous right?

The walkway was built in 1905 as a way for workers to get between two power plants on either side of the gorge.

However, now, more than 100 years later, much of the ‘Caminito del Rey’, or King’s pathway, has crumbled away so that only the steel strut remains.

The path, in the Malaga region of Spain 1,000ft above the river,  was closed to the public 10 years ago after four people died.

“But it still offers the ultimate challenge to daredevil ramblers who find their way around the blocked entrances.”

Catch the last sentence.

“The project also aims to make a section of the walkway accessible to disabled people.”

Send Rick Hansen. He used to be our go-to-guy for stupid physical stunts in a wheelchair.
