McCartney concert crowd is awesome except for Myrtle Jenkins Smith

Islanders should remember their manners when they are away from home

It’s hard to imagine being in a crowd of 50,000 happy people, among more than 300 people with disabilities in the hot summer sun listening to music and waiting for Paul McCartney and having a borish, bad mannered threesome from Prince Edward Island try to spoil the day.

But that is exactly what happened when Myrtle Jenkins Smith, her accountant husband and partner Mark Rollett-Carr made their way into the disabled area at the concert to harass me.

I guess they are not satisfied with their patronage filled bank accounts and with assisting the Province in closing rural schools and denying seniors the wheelchairs they need.

They ought to know better. Their bad manners and ignorant behavior are a poor reflection on their boss the Premier Robert Ghiz. Vaughn Smith is a senior government employee and Chartered Accountant. He ought to have his head examined.

I follow a few simple rules. I tell the truth and fight for the underdog. However, in public I am always polite and respectful. I have never heckled a politician. Robert Ghiz,  Pat Binns and I always act respectful to each other when we meet.

Politics is a blood sport but manners are not optional. Here is my favourite story on how to act when away.

Back in the 1990’s Tom McMillan was our Progressive Conservative federal MP in Charlottetown. I worked for the Liberal Party back then as a volunteer and helped George Proud in the election when Tom lost to George.

In Charlottetown, I was high-profile back then. I got quoted on Compass with some regularity on politics, business and computers. Tom knew who I was and who I worked for. I knew his brother. It’s Charlottetown, the world’s smallest city.

A year later on a Saturday I was going through the Boston Airport on my way to Washington, DC. Tom McMillan had been appointed Consul General to Boston. I was proudly wearing my Montreal Canadians jacket. I spied Tom and he walked right up to me.

Reaching out his hand to shake mine, he beamed a big smile and said “Stephen, how are you? What are you doing in Boston?”

After we exchanged small talk, he told me he was waiting for one of his children. Without a pause, he invited me to his home for supper since I was laid over for several hours.

Tom McMillan, like him or love him in politics, is a gentleman and an Islander. He knows his manners. Islanders are Islanders first. We look out for each other and want to be together wherever we meet each other.

Bob Dylan You Gotta Serve Somebody

So what gives with MJS and her truculent honey and partner? Bad manners, rude behavior and greed might be getting the better of their up-bringing.

The only words to describe Vaughn Smith is jerk. You don’t come into the disabled or any area of a public place looking for a fight unless you are a jerk. Smith actually taunted me to get out of my wheelchair and fight him. I warned him if he came back, I’d call security and have them ejected.

Vaughn was putting on the “you’ve offended my wife’s honor.” Why, I never accused her of being more than a hired-gun for Robert Ghiz. I have direct and personal evidence she conspired with the Premier’s Office and Minister of Seniors Currie to derail the Disability Review which was instigated by yours truly.

Did we have a review? Yes, we have two large reports, the consensus of all the government funded non-government-organizations on PEI. And seniors still don’t get coverage under the PEI Disability Support Program.

Thanks Myrtle, you’re the best friend the disabled could have on PEI or off PEI. God, yes. you even come to the disabled section at Nova Scotia concerts to harass this disabililty advocate.

Bob Dylan sang “You got to serve somebody. It may be the devil or it may be the Lord but you got to serve somebody.”

Sorry Steve, you and your friends recieved this type of bullyng when all you were there to enjoy was a musical icon after the passing over of another musical icon, Michael Jackson.

Sounds like the bullys were sipping too much firewater in the hot sun and their ancestry was coming out to show their true colors. How low can you go?

A man in a wheelchair and three able body persons threatening and intimidating someone in a loving atmosphere celebrating the Paul McCartney.

All I can say Steve is the armor is cracking on the Ghiz Party ; the Liberals look and smell like burnt toast, and they know it. The Conservatives know Islanders are looking for another political party to guide them away from the corruption.

When the PNP litigation begins, the immigrants simply ask for their money back because it will take up to five years to get into Canada as opposed to 9 – 18 months. One can not blame these people for asking for their money back because this government went against the program guide lines established by the federal department responsible for immigration.

The sad part of this, is all Islanders will pay dearly for this breach of fiduciary trust. With Third World education opportunities and health care, our children will be the big losers here. There children will have all the money.

I’d have seen them more as Hat Music types…

Steven….If I were you I would call the police and files charges. Would look good on all there of them Going to attack a person in a wheelchair.

These are the kind of people that Robert Ghiz likes to have around him!

This says more about Robert Ghiz than anyone else.

    Steven….Did this really happen?

I was told about this by a guy at Tim’s today and couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

What are you going to do? I went and called a Friend of mine at the HRM Police and told him the story. he suggested that I have the person( YOU) contact them and file a formal complaint.

HRM Police take people threatening or harassing disabled people very seriously.

You really should contact the HRM Police and file a formal complain against the three of them.

Not to mention CBC on PEI should be alerted as well the Media in Halifax.

This is very serious and improper behaviour.

I would hope someone is contacting the Provincial Government and demanding there be an investigation.

Steven remember just last week we had Mike Currie in court plus 2 Provincial Jail Guards.

You can not let these bullies even if he is nothing more than a bean counter for the province get away with this of behaviour.

Contact the HRM Police and file a charge.

Steven this is abuse at it’s highest form by people who should know better…do you have witnesses? HRP will follow this up ..you have stood up to bullies before ..do it now………………

Steve, this is not surprising. Intimidation and bullying have always been part of the political game on PEI esp. when the biggest beneficiaries ( i.e. Myrtle and friends) get anxious about the stability and longevity of their pay offs and rewards. I have heard a number of recent reports of well paid off Ghiz favourites getting nasty in public at people they feel have criticized the Ghiz Gang. It seems the bigger the pay out ( PNP and in Myrtle’s case all of the bogus reports for Ghiz too) the nastier they get.

It is rumoured that some of the numbered company PNP Piggers are now getting pushed around by Ghiz himself on their once-thought-to- be stress free PNP freebies. It seems he has to recoup cash to cover his own legal and political butt on PNP liability.

So, Myrtle could be upset that Ghiz has been forced to recall her ill gotten PNP gains. On the other hand, she along with Kevin Murphy would most likely be some of the favourites spared this process and the Ghiz boys would focus on the less favoured they set up and conned with PNP payouts as political cover.

Or Myrtle could be finally getting the message that Ghiz is in serious political trouble, full stop. Therefore her rudeness and beligerence to you is just the standard concern for the depth and the durability of cash pigging she can do thru Ghiz in general.

It is very stange on PEI. In other places when scammers are caught they duck and run. Here the arrogance and entitlement are so strong the piggers/scammers/ Ghiz loyalists with true, deep stupidity go on the offensive. Imagine that. In 2009? Wow!

To all true island patriots, challenge, badger and harass these people where they can. They should have no peace until justice is done!

And you conveniently tell your side of the story – after all it is your site. You characterize your coverage of MJS as fair and unbiased – give your head a shake. Then you exaggerate the events in Halifax to suit your view of the world – that is certainly balanced and unbiased….

The real question will when we see the Halifax Police Investigating.

Should be quite interesting when the Halifax Police starts contacting Myrtle’s Husband.

Will be interesting to see what the reaction is than.

Should be interesting to see if the Nova Scotia Legal system has two levels of justice for people like PEI did with Mike Currie.

I wonder if Myrtle will have the spine to come on here and tell their side of the story?

Maybe Myrtle can explain the millions in PNP money to all those shell companies she holds.

Would be interesting to see who wears the pants or panties in that marriage.
