The annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference continues this week in San Francisco as the technology company touts their new wares before a throng of adoring fans and envious rivals. As the conference drew near this past weekend rumors swirled about a possible reemergence of CEO Steve Jobs, who has been on an indefinite medical leave of absence since January, to deliver the highly anticipated Keynote. However, fans were disappointed to see Phil Schiller, Apple’s SVP for Product Marketing, take the stage Monday morning.

It was later discovered that Jobs had in fact planned to deliver the conference Keynote, excited to unveil his new iPhone 3G-S, however the magnanimous leader got lost on his way to the event due to an inadvertent misunderstanding. The conference is taking place at San Francisco’s Moscone Center; Jobs on the other hand found his way to Scone Works, a local pastry shop specializing in the traditional British quickbread.

“Moscone… Scone… I can see how he could make the mistake, but sheesh, talk about embarrassing,” quipped Apple Sales VP Scott Holmes.

Following the morning address, Apple executives scoured the downtown area, eventually finding Jobs sitting at a small window table at Scone Works happily munching on a blackberry scone.

“Schiller stormed in pissed, screaming ‘Do you know what you just did to me? I just had to fake the whole Keynote! You said you’d be there!’” continued Holmes. “But Steve just looked confused, apparently assuming everyone was stuck in traffic or having trouble with parking. It took ten minutes for Schiller to convince him that he had actually gone to the wrong place, and no, the conference was not taking place at a scone shop.”

After realizing his error, Jobs was dejected and pouted in the corner for 20 minutes before leaving the shop and defiantly walking home by himself saying, he “just needed some time alone”.
