Voting for everyone for the PEI Music Awards

We’re voting for everyone in the PEI Music Awards next week. Music PEI won’t let us vote for everyone. It’s our blog and our world not theirs. We don’t agree with the Music PEI Bored of Directors much anyway so why start now.

Instead of the beauty contest Music PEI Board how about solving a real problem like reasonable minimum compensation for musicians in gigs and studio recordings?

Of course, there is the old story – the Board of Directors just exist to put money in their own pockets. The conflicts of interest are legion.

The single winner contest does nothing to raise all boats on PEI. The process is so easy to manipulate. Remember the year when no one in Rock and Roll of any note won. It’s so like ….so old. Nope, I vote for everyone and wish them a lifetime of success in making music their career.

Entertainer of the year

Tim Chaisson – how could you not like Tim Chaisson. He’s very good looking for the ladies, sings well, charming and very talented. His band are great. Here’s a video of him last summer.

Edge strong rock band, we love them.

Grass Mountain Hobos Wow, so much energy and talent along with zany personalities.  Our friend Gordie plays with them and he is awesome. An extra vote for Gordie.

Lazy Jacks another talented high-energy band of multi-instrumentalists

Paper Lions These guys rock even with a new name – Chucky Danger will never go away. They are tireless entertainers.

Kendra MacGillivray Hey where’s Bruce? Kendra is a great Nova Scotian fiddler

Nudie & The Turks one of the coolest country groups around. Nothing but love and respect for this group who are always entertaining. 1.5 votes

Syracuse Me Wow, Adam Danny Stanley rocks out big time. One of the best stage acts on PEI. 2 votes for the frenzied stage act alone. Here’s a video from Summerside last year.

Two Hours Traffic A Charlottetown rock group going places, my neighbors and past baseball players. Gotta get a big vote for super rock and roll experience.

Vishten High energy Acadian group that I love. Listen to Monsieur l’Matou on MySpace. Vishten is updating a great tradition. So the votes are all in. I love them all and they win my support and admiration. And don’t tell me only one band can win. That’s hogwash. Everyone who works hard and has talent can win in PEI and in life.
