Kathy Jones, the previous Executive Director of Social Services and Seniors, has been spotted recently at the Disability Services Review Committee meetings.
Has Minister Currie rehabilitated Jones after getting rid of her in February 2008 for incompetence and interference?
The Disability Services Review (DSR) is in deep trouble if Jones is allowed to work her ways on the committee. One insider commented that Jones is trying to take back control over the committee. With Jones’ friends Myrtle-Jones and Twilah Stone that could easily happen.
Does this signal the incompetence of Doug Currie or his Machiavellian plan to sabotage the work of the committee? Look out for the report this fall in Jones if attached to it. It will be long on fancy words and short on an action plan for the 4,300 Islanders with disabilities who need help, according to Statistics Canada.
Jones developed a reputation as the enemy of people with disabilities but the friend of those in high places within the previous government. She is also a friend of Myrtle Jenkins Smith who is contracted to run the DSR for $100,000 in compensation, among others like the deputy Sharon Cameron.
Jones spent her best efforts to get rid of me from the DSR. Succumbing to her pressure I resigned in late January. I could not work with her. It was a full time job keeping ahead of the manipulation and lies that emanated from her office. Harsh words? Not close enough to the truth.
While she was making my life miserable, she was double timing the early childhood education parents. They had enough influence with the Premier and Minister to have her dumped. Hurrah for them. Even though I lost my position on the Committee, the removal of Jones was a good price to pay.
I did a quick check of the government directory and Jones name is missing. Bob Creed is still listed as Director of Social Programs. However, those computer listings are not considered accurate. Anyone sights her, let me know.
