Bring back passion and truth

This week Montague Mayor Pat McGowan had to apologize for losing her temper. Too bad because she as only defending something she believes in.

I’d rather have politicians who speak their minds than the lying pack of mealy mouthed ones who pretend to be doing the good thing while all the time cheating and stabbing each other and us in the back.

This is the age of political correctness. One must appear bland and without emotion. Outbursts of temper are a sin. What a silly place we’ve created.

Frustration on the Mayor’s part might cause her to lose her temper. Whoopee ding. On TV actors are losing their tempers every few minutes. Actors may be paid to lose their tempers but we watch them of our own choice, vicariously enjoying their passion.

We have bred an uncivil society where the expression of honesty is condemned. People in government and politicians have learned to lie to us dispassionately.

They smile while committing evil acts. The more cold blooded they are the higher they rise in power. Machiavelli is the accepted model of scheming and conniving. We know what’s happening but excuse them with their smiles and fawning demeanor.

In the disability community we get lots of elevated statements about caring and compassion but the treatment is just the opposite. We were promised reform but we get stalling and rhetoric while the ones supposedly helping us are lining their bank accounts.

Give us back politicians and government officials who are not well trained in smiling and lying, like the Great West Wind and Ronnie before he got rich and powerful.
