I am not John the Baptist, nor was meant to be

In my disability work “this winter we call spring”, I have had many imprecations nay threats. My demise has only been suggested recently. Should I be paying closer attention?

On Saturday at the Farmer’s Market one of the NGO’s (Non-governmental organizations) suggested I was John the Baptist. I tried to shaker her off with a joke but she insisted with an evil grin. Now one could take that several ways. He was a saint, Saint John the Baptist. That’s positive.

He was a fire-brand, an outspoken advocate who came out of the desert 6 months ahead of Jesus. Well, I’m not the forerunner nor am I coming out of the desert. However I have been known to make the odd wild-eyed but literate pronouncement against the powers-that-be.

Miracle birth, cousin of Jesus, movie parts – all good stuff. Still not me.

Then it dawned on me: John the Baptist had his head taken off on Salome’s birthday. At that point his advocacy work ended so to speak.Titian

Yikes, is this the fate the aforesaid NGO wished for me? An early death to get rid of my nuisance behavior, at least a nuisance in her eyes and Chester Gillan’s.

Should I avoid all birthday’s of women who dance or just those of Premiers and Kings?

That was a subtle threat if ever I heard one. I have to commend her at least on her scholarship. However, this boy has no intention of going anywhere or stopping the good fight anytime soon. Sorry sweetheart.
