Minister Chester Gillan, cutbacks unavoidable

Mr. R. Brown:

I noticed under disabilities support, your forecast is 8.56 million. You went over budget on that. Now last year the disabilities support group told you you weren’t budgeting enough. But you told the disabilities support: Yes, we’re going to live within our budget. They told you, you were wrong. I guess this is prove that they were right. Just say yes.

Mr. Gillan:
Because it is not right. We were able to keep it down to 400,000 this year. We were partially right.

Mr. R. Brown: So 50-50 then.

Mr. Gillan: Yes.

Mr. R. Brown:Disability support is 50%, and your 50% wrong.

Mr. Gillan: That’s correct.

Mr. R. Brown: Okay.

Ed. Some days it doesn’t pay to poke your head above ground.
