Taylor Swift loves PEI

Small break in downpour gives fans what they waited for

Fans from all over the Maritimes waited for hours in the dampest day on PEI all week for their star performer at the Taylor Swift concert. People don’t mind the rain when their favourite artist has traveled to perform for them.

The highlight of the 5 day Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Swift endeared herself by telling fans she was in love with them like her “sparkly dresses.” Her intro was a big hit with screaming fans.

While she may sound insincere to adults, remember how we adored The Beatles and every other rock group that appealed to us when we were teens. The Charlottetown Guardian gushed as usual Sold out crowd at Taylor Swift show They did hone in on Swift’s popularity with teens – simple lyrics, songs are easy to play on the guitar and she relates to her audience. Oh to be that young and innocent once more.

Don’t know what all the fuss was about. She only played about 12 songs, had no thank yous for her band and walked off the stage without warning never to return despite thunderous pleas to the contrary. I would say that PEI got short changed big time considering Taylor’s arrival was heralded with more fanfare than I have seen in decades. I think she owes her fans up here a big fat apology. I hope for her sake she was feeling ill or had a good reason for stiffing her fans. Taylor a bit more effort next time please.

Taylor DID sound very insincere. Spent four days at this music festival, and she was the ONLY performer who didn’t thank her band; the cameras didn’t acknowledge them much either. She maybe didn’t want it to be too obvious that her back-up singers were doing the singing for her when she couldn’t hit the notes. Whatever the reason, she definitely came across as being very egocentric.
