My tip about Dell not stocking at Future Shop was wrong.
Dell XPS 630i
They do have some interesting Dell computers. I bought a great Dell XPS 630i at Future Shop the other day.
The Dell XPS 630i was designed as an under $2,000 gaming machine with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 / 2.4 GHz.
It works great except Vista 64 is not compatible with my Linksys BEFSR81 3.1 router.
Hard wired the XPS to a Linksys WRT54GS V7 Wireless G router and it works fine. No help from Dell since they don’t support boxes that come from FS – bummer.
A smart girl helped me.
The built in LAN port would not go above 100 mbit per second until I patched the BIOS.
Now I get to fry my brains out with another piece of electrical gear near my ears.
Update – I still have the XPS which was built like a tank. I got revived as the Windows 8 Preview computer and works well. (October 4th, 2013)
