The iTunes product is Mastered for iTunes which is something you can’t do for yourself.
You save money, shipping, shelf space and the time it takes to rip the CD’s to your phone or computer. I import all my CD’s into either Google Play or iTunes and never look at the case or booklet ever again.
You get the same 8 CD’s of music from Bob Dylan’s gospel period, mastered for iTunes. What you don’t get is the DVD of extras including 7 fire and brimstone sermons from Michael Shannon. Pass on the sermons.
The videos would be interesting but many of them already have been on YouTube for years.
Yes Sony is offering 2 extra CD’s for people who can’t get enough of Dylan’s gospel years.
You also don’t get the 120 page booklet, most of which is available on the internet.

What you get is a set of crappy quality soundfiles (1MB per minute-ish) instead of the CD quality ones (10MB per minute) , which makes it a little less easy on the ear. It’s ok just for the sake of cheaply hearing everything once through, but for repeated listens I’d rather do without.
Stephen Pate
Hear ya. I’d used to say that too except I rarely listen to music on anything other than my iPhone, Apple TV and an iPad. It’s so much easier to have music on demand than search and rescue. The actual aural difference is minute. Ears adapt to what they hear not a pristine goal.
Martin Gasman
Gplly, what a deal – you can pay less and get a lot less.
Stephen Pate
That’s one expensive DVD and booklet, most of which are available instantly and free on the internet. I’ll admit there’s momentary gratification in getting the box delivered by Amazon.
Ohmercy
Hmmm, I clicked. Said 80bucks.
