3. Cortana with support in over 1,000 apps
“Windows 10 is the best place to have a conversation with Cortana,” says Microsoft. “Today, we’re launching a new Cortana Collection in the Windows Store to make it easy for you to find great apps with Cortana. And in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, Cortana has learned how to proactively make suggestions for you through-out your day, like offering to buy you lunch or arrange transportation.”
Do you use Cortana now? I don’t. I find all of those personal assistants including Siri just a pain. They don’t respond to natural language questions and the responses need more keyboarding. If you are not able to type, they might give you an advantage. Otherwise, the mouse and keyboard are the best way to interact with a computer, except of course touch on smartphones and tablets.
4. Windows 10 Mobile
Microsoft is promising an update to Windows 10 Mobile (smartphone) with improved Continuum support and more Universal Apps that can run on both the phone, tablet and desktop. Windows phones are such a tiny part of the smartphone market this is not likely to make many people happy. There are about 10 million Windows phone users compared with 270 for Windows 10 on laptops and desktops.
Other than Xbox and some under the covers tweaks, that’s all we know for now. I wish they would fix what we have already.
