By Stephen Pate – Nobody ever gets guys a really super Christmas gift so I gave myself the amazing Bob Dylan Gibson SJ-200 for Christmas. It is truly an fantastic.
Guys and girls, you have to look after yourself in the end.
First I am a Bob Dylan fan and have a huge collection of Bob Dylan records, CD’s, videos, books and swag from the concerts. Second, I played a standard J-200 belonging to a friend and was wowed. It sounded so big and full which is due to the maple back and sides.
Third I watched this video from Greg Koch of Wildwood Guitars – Amazing Sound From Gibson Bob Dylan SJ-200 Player’s Edition – heard the guitar and saw the nonplussed look on his face. Greg actually likes the Player’s Edition more than the signed $10,000 Bob Dylan SJ-200.
“The SJ-200 Player’s Edition is a high-performance model based on Bob Dylan’s personal guitar. This model is constructed with Adirondack red spruce and hand-selected AAA flamed maple. Featuring vintage style hide glue top bracing.”
Fourth reason to buy the guitar – I love to collect great guitars.
I spent years searching for Woody Guthrie’s guitar. Then I sold it to a guy becuase i had no room for all those guitars. I’ve had sellers remorse every since. Nothing worse than a hole in your heart over a lost guitar. It’s almost enough to inspire a new country song.
I wrote so many stories about this guitar – my current love affair – and you can find them linked below.
