Dylan Pitches Pride In America

Things Have Changed but it is still good old Bob Dylan pitching for Chrysler as an American patriot during the Super Bowl

In his younger days, Bob Dylan was the voice of a disaffected youth who rejected the establishment and consumerism of the post-War era.

Things change as we get older and wiser so it’s no wonder Dylan does a few turns for banks, bras and now Chrysler cars. After all he is an over 70 pensioner on Social Security. Any extra income he can earn keeps him from doing part-time work as a Wal-Mart greeter.

It’s a nice ad. The song in the background and the guitar neck turning in his hand are from the gem of a movie Wonder Boys which features several of Dylan’s songs, including “Things Have Changed“.

Things Have Changed won Bob Dylan the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Original Song in a movie.

Dylan’s voice is the roughness of age, the wizened voice of someone who has learned his own lines “I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now.”

See if you can spot the shot they repeated in the Chrysler ad.

For the humorous Chobani Yogurt ad during the 2014 Super Bowl licensed his song “I Want You.”

Victoria Secrets

During a 1960’s news conference predicted he would like to appear in ads for “ladies garments” and he did for Victoria Secrets.

Dylan apparently was not required on the set for the Victoria Secret’s commercial shoot.

This is not the first advertisement Dylan has done. Here are a few from the past.
