You know you’re a Baby Boomer when the best part of the 2014 Grammys was half The Beatles
By Stephen Pate – It was a dreadful night with too much rap and too little music at the 2014 Grammys. Oh and what about that pedestrian song “One Love”.
The state of new music could not be stated more clearly when two 70-year-old rock and rollers were the best music of the night.
Paul McCartney won 5 Grammy awards Sunday night,
• ‘Best Rock Song’ for ‘Cut Me Some Slack’ which he co-wrote with Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear.
• ‘Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package’ for last year’s Wings over America re-issue.
• ‘Best Surround Sound Album’ for Live Kisses.
• ‘Best Music Film’ for Live Kisses.
After Julia Roberts announced The Beatles 2014 Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award, Ringo and Paul joined once again in a musical performance, this time the new song “Queenie Eye.”
Earlier in the evening Ringo let the band in the nostalgic “Photograph”.

Drumming is Ringo’s forte but he did sing some great Beatles songs like “With A Little Help From My Friends”, “Yellow Submarine”, “Octopus’s Garden” and covers of “Act Naturally” and “Matchbox”.
