Dell Venue Tablets From $150

Dell Venue 8 Pro with Windows 8.1

Dell has 3 versatile Venue tablets in Android and Windows 8 versions starting at $149.99

Dell is placing its bets on both Android 4.2 and Windows 8.1 with in the popular 7″ and 8″ sized tablets.  All 3 models are solid, well made and feel good to hold.

The Dell Venue 8 Pro has Windows 8.1 compatibility with Office 2012 in a tablet at half the price of Microsoft. I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro.

“This is a really great tablet. I got it for $149 so I didn’t have my hopes too high with it being this cheap but it’s an excellent tablet… the best tablet for $149. The build quality seems to be really good, not cheap. The back is mildy grippy like the Nexus 7.”

“I am more than pleased with the build quality of this device. The back has a nice rubberized texture which makes it quite easy to hold. The display is nice and bright (actually it is VERY bright) and the colors are OK but not as vibrant as my Samsung devices.”

The Dell Venue 8 Pro for Windows 8.1 comes with double the memory of its Android siblings and the new quad-core Bay Trail Atom processor from Intel.

Unlike the Microsoft Surface 2 and RT, the Dell Venue runs the full version of Windows 8.1 and can run programs designed for desktops and laptops.

  • Price $249.99

The Dell Venue 8 Pro also has an optional stylus and keyboard and integrated case.

The Dell Venue 8 Pro (Windows 8.1) gets a rating of 4 from Amazon.com customers.

“Its a 8″ tablet weighing less than the iPad mini but runs Full Windows 8.1, how cool is that? This is what I have been wanting for a long long time – a tablet that lets me consume content, and when I don’t have access to a regular PC, it will let me do some actual work! And full Windows means – you can run any windows application.”

I find the Desktop Mode on the Dell Venue 8 Pro a little hard to read. The fonts are small. Otherwise, it’s a handy Windows tablet at half the price of Microsoft’s tablets.

Miracast

The Dell Venue 8 Pro has Intel Miracast similar to AirPlay.  I haven’t tried it until I get a Miracast received for my TV.

Wireless display technology: Stream HD videos, photos or presentations from your Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet to your compatible TV through Miracast wireless technology. Miracast’s secure, direct connection eliminates the need to connect to a local WiFi signal.  Dell
