Blues guitarist Duke Robillard will join the Never Ending Tour in 2013
According to the Australian blues magazine Soulshine, blues guitarist and vocalist Duke Robillard will be joining Bob Dylan’s band for the 2012 tour season.
Bob Dylan’s publicist has not confirmed the story.
Duke Robillard has been playing guitar and the blues for decades. A former member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, he played on Bob Dylan’s “Time Out of Mind” album.
With the current Dylan band lineup of Stu Kimball and Charlie Sexton on guitar, Donny Herron on steel guitar, George Receli on drums and Tony Garnier on Bass, the question is: who is Robillard replacing?
Robillard is a highly regarded artist who has recorded more than 50 albums with his own bands, and with other artists like Dylan and Tom Waits.
He won the W.C. Handy Best Blues Guitarist award in 2000 and 2001. His latest CD is “Low Down and Tore Up.”
For blues guitarists, Robillard has posted free blues guitar lessons on YouTube.
