Microsoft has cleared up back-orders and all models of the RT are available

The $499 – 32 GB Microsoft Surface RT is back in stock at the Microsoft Store in the United States.

The supply problem that kept the popular $499 model off the order form last week has been fixed.

In Canada, only the $599 Surface RT with Touch Cover and $699 64 GB with Touch Cover are available at this exact moment.

The stock situation can easily change from day-to-day. If the you want is not available, check back with Microsoft.

It would be better customer service if the Microsoft Store accepted back-orders.

It ships with the Home and Student version of Office RT 2013.

The Microsoft Surface RT uses an ARM microprocessor that should offer longer battery life. It only runs Windows 8 applications that are compiled for RT.

While consumers may dislike the RT feature, it is a boon to corporate users where control of tablet applications is a benefit.

By way of comparison, the iPad and Android tablets also are restricted to running software that has been designed for those devices.
