By Stephen Pate – Mike Masnick at TechDirt preaches that musicians should connect with fans to promote their music. He didn’t suggest a conversation with your cat.
However, for cutie country star Taylor Swift, cat chat is exactly what got her 375,000 YouTube views in 3 days without singing a note.
The promotion is an arm’s length, homemade video that Taylor Swift took herself, although she may not have edited it. Who knows and who cares? It’s uniquely personal to her.

Taylor Swift goes from one smart move to another. She already got star billing this week for releasing Eyes Open, her song from the soon-to-be smash movie The Hunger Games.
She previewed Eyes Open on March 14th.
So what are you waiting for? Go on over to the CMA site and vote for your favorite artists and Taylor Swift.
Afterwards, start to think how you can promote your own music by originality and being open about your unique qualities. Seth Godin, the social media marketing guru, says the best thing is to be yourself.
