Fans were surprised by the Bob Dylan cameo on Greg and Dharma.

The episode from Greg and Dharma is called “Play Lady Play.”

Greg plays the know-it-all who missed seeing Bob Dylan because he dismisses Dharma’s band as inconsequential. Then Dylan shows for a practice session with the band.

Dylan plays straight man, accompanied by T Bone Burnett and other musicians.

The cameo by Dylan was unannounced and surprised viewers back in 1999.

I came across this video yesterday while searching for an original Bob Dylan “Don’t Think Twice” for the story about Suze Rotolo, “Suze Rotolo Bob Dylan’s girlfriend from the 60s dead at 67”

As usual, the YouTube copy has been taken down, and found again! The German language version follows.

The 1999 season of Greg and Dharma is not out yet on DVD. Fans like Season One the best. It was the 25th rated show in 1997.

The show owed much of its popularity to the charming Jenna Elfman who played the funny, flower-child wife to straight man Thomas Gibson (Greg). The show ran 5 seasons and was cancelled in 2002.
