Cute and innovative group ups the ante by getting gig for national ad campaign
We previously reported on the new recording/video duo Pomplamoose who were getting lots of attention and iTunes sales with their catchy tunes and innovative recording techniques.
They do all the video and musical parts themselves.
They seem to have struck it big with a fun ad for the Hyundai Elantra which started running 4 days ago. It’s cute and catches your eye and ear amid the clutter of television advertising.
Pomplamoose are a natural progression in the creation of new music and media. They don’t need a label. They don’t need a studio. The work is done in a smallish room on computers.
They also don’t perform live or tour, giving proof that in the world of social media and iTunes you can build a fan base and make money in music without resorting to touring.
Talent helps and so does a good understanding of how to use computers.

Their cover of Beyonce’s Put a Ring on It has 6 million Youtube views.
They are starting to perform in public. A New Years concert is planned.
The group has their own music publishing company and label. Their name is trademarked. The music is fun but it’s also about being in business. They pay copyright fees for covers and copyright their songs and performances.
How much Pomplamoose made from the Hyundai commercial is a private matter between them, their agents and the advertising agency. You can bet it was more than $50 a day. Hopefully it will make them some change and introduce them to an even bigger market.
