This is a true story that happened last week. We have been asked to change the names and locations to protect the cabbie. You will understand why.

Yep.

I’m sitting in my cab at Mall around Walmart yesterday morning [Friday] about 8:15 when this guy and girl can running over to my cab with a whole cart load of stuff, 42 inch LCD TV, computer and a bunch of other stuff.

I opened the back of my cab, put everything in, then they said they wanted to go to amhurst.

They said how much and I said $80.00. They said “Lets go.”

Going to the end of the story quick, what I didn’t know was, these 2, well the guy anyway, was wanted for armed robbery, assault with a weapon, credit card fraud and fake aliases. He had a gun inside his shirt, coat somewhere, wow.

Anyway, back to the start, I headed to the highway to head to when they said, “you take credit card?”

I said, “nope.”

He said “when we get to there, I’ll go in and get you the money.”

Well I figured I have all the stuff in the back for collateral if he don’t have the money when I get there, so i headed to amhurst.

Anyway, cutting the story a little short, when I’m pulling off the highway going into amhurst, I met a cop.

All of a sudden I looked in my rear view mirror I seen him turn around. I figured he was gonna follow me. Yep he was.

I said to the 2 in the back “I must of been speeding.”

They had a scared look on their face and the guy said go down this street here. I pulled down this street. He said turn right again on this street, then we were going at a dead end street.

Then he said, put into that green house over their, which was that last green house on that street.

He jumps out of the car really quick, runs behind this green house, then I heard sirens.

I looked all around behind me and their were about 15 cop cars, wow.

Then I heard, “Get out of the car now!  Put your hands behind your head!”

Apparently they didn’t see the guy get out of my car and run behind the house. They thought I was involved with them or thought I was him and had stolen the cab.

About 30 guns, rifles and big pistols were right on me they ran over to me put the handcuffs on me, ask me a bunch of questions, wouldn’t believe me when I told them the truth, threw me in back of the cop car with my hands handcuffed behind my back, roughed me up a bit I must say also.

The girl was still sitting in the back seat. They got her out of the car and into another cop car.

Anyway I ended up down in the cop station [amhurst] put me into this little room, shut the door and left me there for about half an hour, then they came in and started questioning me.

Well about a little while after they finally realized I was innocent and apologized for all the inconvenience. Anyway they caught the guy about an hour later.

I has to stay around fill out papers. They had to search my taxi, which they found a whole bunch of fake id’s and stolen car registrations and a bunch of other stuff that the guy shoved under my front seat before he jumped out of my car.

I had to stay around and they put him in a police lineup and I had to pick him out and tell the cops that he was the one, just like in the movies.

Then I had to pick him out of a bunch of photographs they showed me.

Anyway, I got out of there after dinner and headed home.

The cops said your lucky he didn’t hold you as a hostage, he’s done it before.

WoW, I almost shit myself.  I think I did.

True Story, what a day. I’m lucky I’m alive anyway, considering he was armed in my cab and I didn’t even know it.
