Injuries serious but healing in time
Spinner – Superstar producer Daniel Lanois is out of the hospital and recovering at home following a motorcycle accident June 5 that left him in intensive care. A spokesperson for the artist and producer sent an email to Spinner Friday with the good news.
“Dan is doing much better now,” the e-mail reads. “He was in the hospital for two weeks…he is back at home now and on the mend. Fortunately all of his injuries are ones that will heal with time.”
Lanois, one of music’s most acclaimed producers, has worked with everyone from Bob Dylan (‘Time Out Of Mind’) to U2 (‘Joshua Tree’ and most recently, ‘No Line On The Horizon’). At the time of the accident, Lanois was about to embark on a European tour with his latest project as a recording artist, the Black Dub.
The accident was severe. His label Jive issued a statement saying, “Lanois suffered multiple injuries but is expected to be released from intensive care soon. Due to the severity of the injuries, Lanois has canceled all upcoming tour dates and promotional activity and will be recuperating for the next two months.”
In addition to touring with Black Dub, Lanois was reported to have been collaborating with Neil Young in producing the icon’s upcoming album. There’s no word on what the recovery time means for the highly anticipated pairing, but with Young currently on the road and having just announced new dates, he will surely be busy until Lanois is recovered. In the mean time, we wish Lanois a continued speedy recovery.
