McCartney recovers from false start in Halifax 2009
When Paul McCartney started to sing Paperback Writer at the Halifax 2009 summer concert, he got off on the wrong note. Literally.
No problem for McCartney who was totally at ease on the first night of his 2009 North American tour. Showing the charm and wit that endured The Beatles to fans forty years ago, he tossed it off with a light hearted joke. What got them in trouble was the difficult harmony that starts the some sung a cappella.
On cue the band started again and delivered a great performance of the song.
Paperback writer was the 11th single by The Beatles, recorded April 13th and 14th 1966. It featured a stronger bass guitar line than The Beatles had used before.
This performance song was recorded on my Sony digital still camera under the premise of using what you have. Video follows the break.
For more details on how the song was written see The Beatles Bible
A better and professional recording of the song from the 2009 concert series, although without the false start, is on the official Good Evening New York City [2 CD + 1 DVD Combo].
The song was composed by Lennon McCartney, copyright Northern Music and the performance copyright MPL.
