The Big Lead – IOC vs. Blogger: The International Olympic Committee wants a blogger to take down video of Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili dying during a practice run.
The IOC claims “it owns all the rights to all images taken at the games, and only licensed broadcasters can use them.” The blogger’s argument is that “copyrighted images to be used in news worthy cases.”
The IOC won’t win on the internet in trying to retain ownership of news that has already happened. People upload the video. Then, they are removed. And they’re put back up the next day. And so on, and so on. You lose, IOC. [International Business Times]
