The record of 33 Government Bill that will die includes 24 at First Reading, 1 back from Standing Committee and 8 either passed or voted on. During the 40th Parliament, 28 Government Bills were given Royal Assent.
Some of the legislation left on the table includes law-and-order bills like mandatory sentencing for marijuana possession that fit the Harper agenda but don’t have the support of the majority of the population.
