New Photo or Phetos virus on Facebook

Phetos virus, all of a sudden everyone wants to comment on my photo

If we don’t all go crazy from these attacks it will be a miracle

Phetos virus, all of a sudden everyone wants to comment on my photo

I discovered another virus on Facebook this morning.

The first Notification said “M___ commented on a photo of you.”

How nice of M___. Flattered I checked it out. Oops, another application called Photo – no Pheto – wanted access to my friends list.

Forgetaboutit. I canceled the screen.

Then another friend commented and another.

Sure. All of a sudden my pictures are real popular.

There is no Pheto application according to Facebook. I can’t even find it on Google.

It is a virus trying to infect my account and others. Obviously, three of my friends have it already today. Grrr.

Has anyone else seen this?

I’ll have to change my Facebook password immediately.

Another clue – on the All Notifications screen, those notifications are blanked out like they didn’t happen. I sent emails around to the 4 people who seem to have the virus. Facebook has no way to tell them and I guess they get so many now it’s hopeless.

I saw it today too. Three different friends sent me the notification today. And if you wanna check the notifications afterwards, they don’t show up. Wise pirates…

So this is something affecting the friend’s account, and not our own? Also, I got one of those this morning, and the notification is still there. Another way to know that the notification is this virus, is because I never get an e-mail from facebook saying that someone has commented on my photo. I hope whoever created the virus doesn’t realize this or something….

The only thing I know you can do is a) change your own facebook password, b)make sure your anti-virus software is up to date and rescan c) send your friend a polite email and suggest they do the same (password. avs scan)
