They still live up to their reputation as the worst way to send a parcel
I don’t live in Regina, Saskatchewan neither do any of my relatives. Most of them including my grandchildren live in Toronto and Oakville, Ontario. So that’s where I sent two Christmas parcels on December 19th, 2009.
The lady at the Canada Post Retail said “Use Express Post and they will be there on the 22nd.”
On December 25th, the parcel for my grandchildren was in Regina, SK. It was a little hard for me to get the joy of Christmas with a pre-teen and teenager when the parcel didn’t arrive. The daughter-in-law hasn’t spoken and the son is going to call me back. I tried tracing it but Canada Post has been closed until today and it’s a moot point now. Christmas is over.
“Oh look kids, here are some cards from…what day is that Christmas?…from Grampa. Save them for next year.”
My two other sons and daughter had the fun of imagining their gifts stuck in the Mississauga postal station until today. They are just as enthusiastic as the teenagers. One sent me and “Oh well” email.
All I could do was tell them it would be fun to have another Christmas Day this week and at least they didn’t risk getting shot on Yonge Street on Boxing Day. That joke was as flat as Christmas Day.
I was tracking the packages minute by minute, then day by day as the frustration set in. I checked twice today and no delivery yet.
The good news is they were insured so if they never get there there is always the satisfaction of money back.
On December 29th I am thinking they could be re-gifted as New Year’s gifts and Valentine’s Day gifts if they don’t make it by Thursday. The greeting cards are wrong but its the value of the gift that matters right?
Canada Post, you gotta love them.
