TC Helicon releases little brother to Voice Live 2 – the Harmony-G XT pedal

TC Helicon Harmony G XT

TC Helicon is continuing it’s run of new pedals and effects for performance. The new Harmony-G XT promises the singe pedal simplicity of the VoiceTone series pedals but the new harmony features of VoiceLive 2.

For simplicity in performance, nothing matches the VoiceTone pedals. But you need two or three to accomplish what needs to happen, or buy a VoiceLive 2.

The new pedal has 2 harmony voices controlled by what they call NaturalPlay. The harmony is controlled by the chords or notes played on the guitar. TC Helicon has really aced this cool feature. When I was playing Harmony Control-G and now VoiceLive 2, it never ceases to amaze me how it picks the correct harmony based on my guitar.

Audiences are amazed by the natural sound of the harmony. A little goes a long way in adding to a performance. There are two harmony voices above and two below.

The new pedal has the adaptive vocal engineering we got used to in VoiceTone create plus “18 combination’s of reverb, delay and µmod shared by vocal and guitar input.”

Not included are pitch correction and the hundreds of presents in VL2.

It looks like the Swiss-army-knife voice pedal at a nice price of US $245. Amazon.com have it on pre-order status for December 1, 2009.

There was one comment on a bulletin board about a latency with the VL2 which could be detected slightly with in-ear-monitors.  According to TC-Helicon this has been reduced with the Harmony-G XT. I personally didn’t find that in the VL2 but I don’t depend in in-ear monitors.
