CBC is reporting Danny Moase, President of the PEI Real Estate Association, calls their complaints about the property tax changes a mistake.
Real estate fuss a ‘misunderstanding’
“Association president Danny Moase told CBC News on Thursday that after meeting with provincial Treasurer Wes Sheridan, he is now comfortable with the proposed changes.
The amendments would adjust the assessed value of a home when it is sold to something Sheridan described as market value. Sheridan has since clarified that does not mean what the house sold for, but instead is based on an assessment of market value made by the province.
“It was a misunderstanding regarding terminology,” Moase said.”
