Games reluctantly postponed while Hurricane Bill passes by
Stephen Pate, NJN Network, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, August 24, 2009 with story from CBC and Charlottetown Guardian
We take no credit at NJN Network for a tiny bit of listening and learning at Canada Games. God passed by on Sunday and Joe Spriet and Canada Games listened.
They made a decision to bow to forces beyond their power and let things slide for a day.
If you don’t believe in God that’s cool – for you this story is about the irresistable power in a south earterly gale. Google and Microsoft are no match.
You know guys and gals of the Canada Games who are obsessed with sport, power and money – the Good Lord is watching you.
He sees you counting your money, audience ratings, news clipping inches and ignoring his sheep.
But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Luke 16:18
A few of you may be Christian or Moslem and remember that God favours those who look after the weak, the sick and the needy.
Jesus didn’t hang around with CBC and Guardian reporters writing up good stories. He wasn’t doing damage control with corporate PR flacks because he walked by the lame guy. He went to the people to make things better. He did things for people like tell the guy “Pick up you bed and walk.”
He also spoke freely and denounced the hyprocrites, like some of you are with your phony protestations of love for the disabled.
God’s wrath in Hurricane Bill may have passed but He trained me well to look after the sheep on this topic. Expect to hear about this endlessly until you mend your ways.
