“The directors have the right to remove the name of any member, Ray Brow”
By Stephen Pate, NJN Network, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, April 24, 2009
Apparently the Board of Music PEI don’t like our criticism of their policies and practices since they have removed me from the membership. As Groucho Marx said
“I don’t want to belong to any club that will accept people like me as a member.”
Freedom of expression is not highly prized at Music PEI. Freedom of the press is prized even less. Let this be a lesson to all Island musician: if you don’t suck up to Brow and Oakie you will be cut off without a sou. No public discussion will be tolerated. Music PEI wants to back to the days of dictators when people knew they place.
I wonder if this prejudices my rights to funding for my musical career provided to them by the Province of PEI? That would create a liability under both the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the PEI Human Rights Act.
I assure you dear readers that this will not deter me from examining and exposing the cesspool of corruption, patronage and self-dealing that is Music PEI. They are such silly people. Small minded silly people. Freedom means the freedom to dissent, to criticize.
