Dear Stephen,

Have evacuated our home and made it to my Mother’s place in Grand Forks. We got the call to evacuate Thursday night – they come around with a map and show you what your home looks like if the river rises to a certain level.

We’re ok as long the dikes hold and we crest below 41. We’re at 40.8 and holding. Luckily we have wireless, cell coverage, and access to roads in GF! It is really wild.

They have Unmanned helicopter vehicles patrolling the dikes. If there is a red alert (dike leaks) they call in these other helicopters that drop sandbags onto the site and emergency vehicles respond with in minutes! Bit of a war zone here.

At any rate, it’s a great community effort but a royal pain to deal with. We’re expecting another 10 in of snow on Tuesday. Well, nobody ever said we live here because of the weather.
