Think outside the box
Change often brings new opportunities.
The 9 years of revenue for Cymbria Lions Club from the French School Board will soon be at an end.
Any more recriminations and hostility is a waste of time. Put your heads together and come up with a new plan.
There’s always a new idea that can make money. You’ve got a building. What can you do with it?
How about a Lennie Gallant Museum, maybe a lobster supper?
It would give people a destination to visit in Rustico. You might dedicate some space to selling local artists and artisans.
Surely with the focus on Rustico, if you adopt a positive point of view you could attract Federal or Provincial dollars to help transitioning the building to something else.
Make lemonade from lemons.

How about a display of Carolyn’s cute little red leather jackets?

Lennie Gallant Museum – What a Great Idea.
There is a Anne Murry museum in Spring Hill – and Lennie is way better than her because he writes his own songs. She was made famous by a song (Snowbird) which was written by Gene MacLellan, who we like to think of as an Islander. Truth is Gene was really born in Val D’Or, Quebec and wandered to PEI about 1964, and I’m glad he did.
The first Time I saw Lennie in concert was at his Home Coming at the rink in North Rustico (I believe) and Gene Maclellan was there. Gene didn’t appear in public much at that time, but said he had to come out for Lennie. Gene and Lennie singing – that night – I will never forget it.

If the Lions would read what Jack McAndrew wrote about Gene in the cover for “Lonesome River” they would stop this nonsence. The man took the insulation out of his own garage to give to someone who couldn’t afford to buy more to finish their reno. Only the good die young – Rest In Peace, Gene.
