Charlottetown resident and paraplegic Bernie Wilson admitted he cannot enter 50% of the places he wants to visit, in a CBC interview. Due to the lack of affordable, accessible accommodations Wilson said he is forced to live in a nursing home despite being only middle aged.
Marcia Carroll said that the need is more than accessible accommodations: they need to be affordable.
Carroll Executive Director of the PEI Council of Persons with Disabilities, said the Council is working with the City of Charlottetown to ammend the building code to include accessibility features.
