Last night the Tour of Hope went to Rustico. The PC Party was having a nominating convention and that was a good opportunity to spread the message that PEI needs more disability supports.
The weather was bitterly cold and I thought I would freeze to death outside the Lion’s Club. Michael handed out Disability Quick Facts. I was the good will ambassador.
The people of Rustico are wonderfully kind and considerate people. They stopped repeatedly thinking I was trying to cross the street in my chair. I smiled and waived them on. It was a gratifying experience.
Michael and I shot video which should post over the weekend. After our work was over we went to the beach. Rustico is my favourite beach – no fees, close to parking and great shoreline. I even like it in winter, despite losing my favourite ball cap there one February. We had a good time and hope more people come to realize the plight of Islanders with disabilities.
