Dear Madam Chairperson:
Re: Disability Support Program Cutbacks
There has been considerable press in December and January about cutbacks in the DSP since April 2006. The dollar amount has been pegged by the Minister at $651,000.
My New World Dictionary defines “cutback” as a noun “the act or result of cutting back a) a reduction or discontinuance.” The Minister calls them budget adjustments.
What does the Advisory Committee think about the cut-backs? When did the Advisory Committee first hear about the cut-backs? Has the Committee done anything to encourage the Minister to put the money back in the DSP budget?
Sincerely, Stephen Pate
Ed: this group has been called variously: Ministerial Committee on Disability Issues, same without ‘Issues’, and Ministerial Advisory Council on Disabilities. I believe them to be synonymous.
