Tami Reller, Microsoft’s Vice President, told an investor conference that Microsoft sold 40 million copies of Windows 8 in the first month since it was released.

Windows 8 upgrade momentum is outpacing that of Windows 7, Windows Vista and Apple’s OS X.

“The journey is just beginning, but I am pleased to announce today that we have sold 40 million Windows 8 licenses so far,” Reller told the Credit Suisee 2012 Annual Technology Conference in Scottsdale Arizona on Tuesday.   Continue reading

Windows 8 needs multi-touch hardware

If you absolutely need to buy a new computer that is not Windows 8 touch ready, offer the store or online vendor half price.

That’s all the computer will be worth in October.

As soon as consumers see Windows 8 computers that work with touch, they won’t be going back to mouse and click. Windows 8 is going to kill the old computer interface, and the hardware that is not touch enabled.  Continue reading

Windows 8
will be the consumer product. Enthusiasts and organization with networking will likely purchase Windows 8 Pro. You won’t be able to buy Windows RT: it’s an OEM version for manufacturers of tablets, smart phones and other devices. Continue reading
