Adobe Premiere CS5 uses video card acceleration

The speed improvement with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 NVIDIA card makes video editing blazingly fast photo and a CUDA enabled video card from NVIDIA is something you have to experience to believe.

An NVIDIA CUDA card is essential equipment for video editing. The combination with Adobe CS5 leaves other video editing systems in the dust.

While I like to prepare video reports for NJN Network, the time spent rendering high-definition video has severely restricted my output. It’s the main reason we stopped doing This Hour Has Five and a Half Minutes. The editing took 3 days.

Fans of  the satirical series would approach me on the street and ask when it was starting up again. Never was my answer – I only have one life and it won’t be spent waiting for a video editor.

It’s a scam that will try to load a Trojan on your computer while you check it out.

Click on the email at your own risk.

Amazingly convincing that you will get a legitimate bargain if you don’t look twice. The similarity to Amazon’s logo is cute.

Network Solutions hosting compromised thousands of accounts

Three weeks of “grep” attacks are over for now but their customers are nervous and leaving Network Solutions

"Grep" virus hacked inside Network Solutions servers

Network Solutions hosting service mis-handled its customer service for weeks with the “grep” iFrame redirect virus. The same virus was also reported to be attacking GoDaddy hosted websites. Due to the lack of security at Network Solutions, we did the prudent thing and moved NJN Network to a more secure site.

The attacks started three weeks ago with more than 5% of Network Solutions’ customers infected with the Trojan. While site owners are responsible for their own security, Network Solutions did not provide reasonable care in protecting their customers. We asked them months ago if the site was protected by a virus checker. Yes they said. We subscribed to their nsProtect Safe service which was a useless piece of junk.

The Hack

The virus created an iFrame re-direct. When someone visited an infected site, they were redirected to a site that said their browser or operating system needed to update.

whew Whew! were live again photo

Whew!

Update Monday April 12th, 2001 -the only consolation after a weekend of hard work cleaning up our site is that Network Solutions had more than 100 WordPress sites hacked. Some say GoDaddy sites were hit with the same hack.

The developers from WordPress and Network Solutions engineers say they have tracked down the rogue and locked it out. We are working today to harden our site. What a crazy week that was! Back to the stories after more system admin.

Sorry again for any inconvenience to our readers.

So I’m working on stories Thursday morning, feeling like the top of the world.

Then SLAM BAM SCHZAMM down goes the website. I bring it back up but the dirty little coward is trying to infect my computer with a Greb virus.

Imagine infected by your own website!

I called Network Solutions and they pretended it was my fault. Yeah right I posted my passwords on Kijiji as a joke.

Two emails from friends and I knew I had to act so I took the whole shebang down, went private, put up the “Under Construction” sign.

The “greb” virus was all over the main page in the source code.  Continue reading

Your Mac can be hacked by a virus

Even worse it has no special protection against Phishing attacks

One of the dubious claims by Apple and it’s devoted users is the lack of worry about virus protection. That self-confidence is misplaced since virus attacks do occur on Macs and phishing attacks are common.

Apple now recommends users install virus software.

In the past virus and trojan developers devoted more of their attention to the Intel/Windows computers. They outnumbered Macx by better than 10 to 1.

The lines are blurring as Apple computers are now Intel computers and share common access points and peripherals It’s a fallacy to believe your Mac is virus free without protection. We came across this post on an Apple Support forum

Erin Andrews ‘Nude Video’ May Install Computer Virus

Didn’t yo mama tell you not to play with those girls

Erin copy Erin Andrews Nude Video May Install Computer Virus photoStory from Fox

I guess the reporters at Fox haven’t seen too much porn on the web to believe a downloading video player trojan is new.
Oh those crafty hackers thinking of luring you with sex and then a trojan virus.

From Sophos

“Crafty hackers have created a fake CNN Web page housing what purports to be the video of the glamorous sports reporter undressing — but when you click on it, you’re asked to download a specialized video player, which is full of digital nastiness to infect your computer.”

“Macintosh users are not immune to this one — in fact, the hacker software detects what kind of computer you’re using and dumps an even nastier Trojan horse onto Macs than it does PCs.”

“Andrews made news Monday when her lawyers confirmed that a nude video, apparently shot through a hotel room’s peephole, which had been bouncing around the Internet for months was indeed of her.” Fox Media

“Here’s my advice,” Cluley wrote on his official blog. “If you want to look at naked women, buy yourself an adult magazine or get yourself a girlfriend. If you go searching for sleazy videos then don’t be surprised if it’s not just your mind that ends up corrupted, but your computer, too.” Sophos

Yo mama warned you.
