“I want to get a new computer, maybe a laptop this fall to watch movies, do Facebook and read my email. What should I get?” asked a friend on Facebook.

My reply was to wait until the game-changing Windows 8 ships on October 26 22, 2012. If you want touch computing, everything for sale today will be instantly out-of-date.

If you don’t want touch, the computers available now will be selling at a deep discount as most consumers migrate to more powerful and fun Windows 8 platform.  Continue reading →

After weeks of anticipation, Microsoft has released a Customer Preview of the next MS Office, called Office 2013.

The Office 2013 Customer Preview is free, looks like and integrates with Windows 8 Metro, and makes Office more of a Cloud application than ever before.

The Windows 8 integration is big, of course, since Windows 8 is expected to launch in October and will become the dominant operating system for computes in the next few years. I predict Windows 8 will be on half a billion computers by the end of 2013.
