The biggest full moon of the year is a wild ride

Last night I saw the Perigee Moon when I fell asleep early but not at 3:50 AM when I awoke on the east side of the house.

I jumped in my wheelchair and zipped to the west end of the house and there it was, big and butter yellow shining through the trees.

I had to get dressed and go chase the moon for a better picture than from a kitchen window. I would get a picture of the moon, but not as good as the by Peter Asquith from New Zealand.  Continue reading

I knew something magical was happening last night. When I was going to sleep, the almost full moon was streaming light through the blinds.

I opened them up and fell asleep bathed in the moonlight. When I awoke at 2:30 AM the night was alive with moonlight.  Continue reading

Election win by Conservatives puts issue to rest but for how long?

Against the odds and Canada’s top pollsters and media predictions, Conservative Alison Redford has won a decided victory in Alberta’s provincial election.

Canadian human rights advocates can breathe a sigh of relief that Wildrose didn’t take the government. Wildrose leader Danielle Smith announced plans to close down Alberta’s Human Rights Commission, replacing it with a branch of the court system to weed out “frivolous” human rights complaints.  Continue reading

John Mellencamp Tours Canada in 2012 with Cowboy Junkies

“No Better Than This” tour will hit 16 sites from BC to Newfoundland with Summerside, Moncton, Dartmouth, Sydney and St. John’s in Atlantic Canada

American rock and roll star John (Cougar) Mellencamp has booked the “No Better Than This” across Canada tour this summer, starting in Penticton BC on June 14th.

This tour may be the sleeper concert of the summer. Bigger acts in bigger cities will draw larger audiences but Mellencamp and The Cowboy Junkies will move your soul in a good direction.

PEI will lose more land to flooding

Climate change will affect Alberta and Saskatchewan the least

According to CBC and a government sponsored think tank, PEI is at the highest risk of losing land to flooding from climate change.

While Alberta and Saskatchewan will lose zero land to climate change flooding, PEI will lose 1.3% to 1.6%. That will impact highways, bridges, coastal villages and both Charlottetown and Summerside which already experience storm surge damage. Continue reading
