Pottie's at Mary's wedding - Jimmy, Sid, Pops, Eddie, Cam, Clary (dad), Mary, Gram, Charlie, Margaret, Pat and Johnny
(updated)
This is a follow up to a reader’s comment on My uncle Sid. One family story leads to another.
My grand-mère was as strict an Acadian Catholic as God made. Half Scottish and half Acadian from Arichat, Isle Madame, Cape Breton, she would use Gaelic when angry.
I remember rabbit pie on the stove at home in Halifax, which amazingly which gets honorary mention in an Ecole Buote lesson plan.

Lobster landings are down on the south side of PEI and have been for years. Back when I lived there in the 1970′s and 1980′s, the north side of PEI was suffering and the boys in Graham’s Pond were hauling them in. Times change and I hope they change back. Continue reading

Editor – Superintendent Sandy MacDonald changes his story one more time. This time kids from Eastern PEI can’t get into UPEI. Maybe they should put in some disabled parking for a few of them and lower tuition for everyone. Let’s see how many reasons does Sandy have: 1) saving money – no ; 2) quality of education – nope ; 3) teachers need a coffee clatch, not : 4) no music teachers – sure in PEI with more fiddlers per square mile and the best Celtic music in North America ; 5) you fill in the blanks on his lies. I’m bored with Sandy’s shifting lies.

NANCY WILLIS The Charlottetown Guardian, March 25, 2009
Editor – this is probably one of Nancy Willis’ last articles for the Charlottetown Guardian since they decided to close the Souris Office and lay Nancy off. It’s a sad week for Kings County. I’ve known Nancy since 1976 and hope she finds something equally rewarding soon.
While Friday the 13th started with only slight apprehension and a determination to be careful, events can overtake you when lady luck goes for a drive.
The day went along swimmingly. Stories flowed slowly from my two fingers. Projects like mailing back two TC Helicon floor pedals remained unpacked in boxes on the hall floor where they had been all week. My new song 56 Percent Man remained unrecorded. I was being cautious, not pushing my chances. The recording session the night before was a disaster with the computer deciding my music was not recordable. Research on Friday proved the fault to be mine: I neglected to turn on the Firewire drivers to encourage the song to flow from the mixer. Other than that I was in a fine mood. Continue reading

Today is the last day before ticket go on sale for the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. I’m running an unofficial poll. Who are you more interested in seeing: Reba or Tim? My Hannah, almost 14, says she’ll die if she gets Tim McGraw’s autograph. Reba McEntire’s fans are pretty solid for her too. We’re counting clicks. Which story gets more clicks? Send you comments along too. We’ve seen big stars on PEI before. This is THE event of the summer. Continue reading

One of the acts announced yesterday was Big and Rich a country, rock, and hip-hop crossover group we don’t normally see in this neck of the woods. These boys are deep country. I know the description sounds incredible but that’s the way it is in country today. Country is not static and Kenny Alphin and John Rich show their fans they are hip but they’re still country. This is sure gonna be a great time in Cavendish. Continue reading

Paul Brandt’s name on the playbill for the Cavendish Beach Music Festival is great choice. Brandt has a warm baritone that appeals to audiences on both sides of the Canada US border. He is also a great entertainer who brings fun to the stage with his easy going rapport with audiences. Continue reading
