Former US President George H. Bush was admitted to intensive care tonight battling a fever.

The 88-year-old Bush has been place on liquids but is said to be improving.

Concerned people might say a prayer for President Bush who championed human right for people with disabilities.

George H. Bush sponsored the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to give those living with disabilities a place in American society.

“Today’s legislation brings us closer to that day when no Americans will ever again be deprived of their basic guarantees of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” said the President in 1990.

When the courts restricted the rights of the disabled, the former President encouraged his son President George W. Bush to amend the ADA with more than 1,000 page of law so specific no court could overturn his intentions.

Senator Orrin Hatch is quoted as saying: “The Supreme Court did what it thought was right, but it was wrong. And we had to correct it.”

His son, President George W. Bush, signed the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended into law on January 1, 2009.

The Bush family has worked for decades in support of human rights for those living with disabilities.

From the Houston Chronicle – Former President George H.W. Bush was in the intensive care unit of a Houston hospital Wednesday night after battling a persistent fever all week, his spokesman said.

The 41st president has been at Methodist Hospital for more than a month now.

Jim McGrath, Bush’s spokesman in Houston, said the 88-year-old’s fever rose on Wednesday, but doctors at Methodist Hospital report he is doing better than the day before. He was admitted to the ICU on Sunday and since has been on an all-liquid diet.

“He is considered in guarded condition,” McGrath said. “He has suffered a series of setbacks.” The fever is being treated with Tylenol, but it’s not responding to the treatment.

McGrath was not sure what caused the fever.

McGrath said Bush is alert, having a “running banter” with his nurses and is surrounded by family. “His doctors have said emphatically this is not the end game,” McGrath said.
